Vehicle Description European Motor Studio is very excited to offer this lovely, very well documented 1978 Jaguar XJ12L Series II Saloon.
Finished in Regency Red over Biscuit leather, this XJ12L Saloon left the Browns Lane Coventry factory in February 1978 and was invoiced to GB Motors Limited in Edmonton Alberta.
The car was purchased on May 12, 1978 but its first owner who lived in Edmonton with the car until selling it to its second owner in 2016 when the car was imported into Southern CA.
We acquired the car in 2019 and have done numerous service/maintenance items bringing the car up to an excellent running and driving condition.
An extensive maintenance file dating back to brand new accompanies the car along with its original Jaguar British Leyland Passport to Service booklet with early service stampings.
Brand new front upper and lower ball joints have just been replaced along with upper and lower front shock tower bushings, a new fuel pump and fuel tank pump, new plugs, wires and injectors, a new brake master cylinder, new starter relay and a new transmission front pump seal has just been replaced.
The Regency Red paint shows beautifully with no real imperfections of any kind (one small thin area in the driver door and one small one in the rear passenger door).
Newer tires with like new tread are all matching.
The interior is in excellent all original condition showing lite age and wear to the driver and passengers.
The leather still has a nice feel to it and the carpets show remarkably well for its age.
The dash is in excellent crack free shape and the wood face does show some lite surface cracks.
All of the cars electronics are operating as designed (power door locks not functioning) down to the original Blaupunkt radio and power antenna.
Even the original map light and interior lights are operating by the switches on the dash.
All of the dash lights and gauges are operating including all of the warning lights which do not stay illuminated while driving.
The matching numbers 12 cylinder engine starts right up and idles very well.
It pulls incredibly strong and smooth as it should and the transmission shifts through the gears smoothly.
The body is very straight and rust free.
There were no signs of any prior damage or metal work having been done in the past and the undercarriage is very clean and rust free.
The odometer shows 88,850KM and according to all of the documentation, it is 188,850KM since brand new.
Accompanying the sale of this car is the original British Leyland service booklet, owners handbook, radio manual, wiring diagrams, original letters from British Leyland to the owner, original keys, original jack and an incredible service file documenting the mileage back to brand new.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a very well maintained and cared for Series II XJ12 Saloon not often seen in this kind of condition.
