Magnetic Resonance Technologist at Gila River Health Care Chandler, AZ 85286
Performs computed tomography (MR) scans to produce cross-sectional images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes.
Technologist is responsible for completing all critical tasks on a timely basis.
Accurately interprets provider orders, assesses patient's medical condition as well as patient's ability to tolerate contrast and examination.
Protocols the patient schedule for order completeness, correlation between suspected diagnosis and exam and patients ability to tolerate contrast based on laboratory results and prior history.
Utilizes two patient identifiers to ensure correct patient identification prior to beginning exam.
Assists patient on the examining table and positions them for optimal scan quality using supportive devices to obtain and maintain precise patient position.
Applies the correct scanning protocol for each exam, explains the length of the scan to the patient prior to beginning the exam.
Follows radiologist's direction and protocol for all scans.
Checks patient laboratory results prior to contrast administration then administers contrast media by oral or intravenous means.
Verified patient identification on the completed scan and corrects any errors or omissions.
Observes and monitors patient safety and comfort while in their care.
Modifies scans to include additional images of observed pathology.
Completes quality 3D renderings and diagnostic post-processing Evaluates images for technical quality, completeness, patient identification and dateCompletes daily quality assurance to ensure proper compliance.
Alerts department management of any equipment issues.
Maintains all contrast logs; crash cart logs; and others as needed.
Applies the ALARA principle and minimizes patient dose whenever possible.
Completes weekly order for supplies and stocks supplies as needed.
Completes 24 ARRT approved CEU's during each biennium to include the requisite number in MR.
Maintains all required licenses and certifications.
Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions.
Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions.
Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
2 years MR Technologist experience required; or equivalent education and experience.
5 years MR Technologist experience preferred.
ARRT and AZ DOH certifications.
Current and continuing CPR and First Aide training and certifications required.
Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
