As the Director of Business Intelligence, you will lead a dynamic team, driving our company's utilization of analytics.
This role demands a unique blend of hands-on expertise and leadership across three domains:
data engineering, reporting and analytics, and product management.
We are seeking a candidate who is adept at managing and mentoring analysts and deeply involved in the technical aspects of data engineering, analysis, and visualization.
Your responsibilities will include leading others, as well as gathering and analyzing data, creating insightful reports, and presenting findings that inform key business decisions.
You will be instrumental in building and maintaining a robust enterprise analytics environment, requiring a balance of technical acumen, a proactive attitude, and exceptional customer-facing skills.
This role requires direct involvement in data processes and analytics and the strategic capability to guide and shape business intelligence initiatives that drive company success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSArchitect and orchestrate cutting-edge data engineering solutions:
Manage ETL Processes:
Oversee and customize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
This includes extracting data from various sources utilizing Fivetran or advanced Python scripting, transforming it to meet operational needs, and loading it into target databases or data warehouses.
Manage Snowflake for Data Storage:
Utilize Snowflake's cloud data platform for efficient data storage, ensuring high scalability, performance, and security.
Utilize dbt for Data Transformation:
Apply dbt (data build tool) for transforming data in the warehouse, enabling more complex, scalable, and reliable data transformations.
Enforce Data Governance and Quality Assurance:
Implement and oversee data governance policies that ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security, while also establishing Quality Assurance processes.
This includes setting and monitoring adherence to standards for data usage, privacy, quality control, and validation to maintain high-quality, reliable data across all systems and processes.
Lead and innovate in reporting and analytics:
Analyze Complex Data:
Conduct in-depth analysis of complex datasets to uncover actionable insights.
This involves using statistical methods, data modeling, and predictive analytics to interpret data trends and patterns.
Visualize Using Tableau:
Create compelling data visualizations using Tableau, turning complex datasets into understandable and actionable insights.
This includes designing dashboards and reports tailored to various business needs.
Data Storytelling and Communication:
Communicate insights effectively to stakeholders, aiding strategic decision-making and fostering a data-driven culture across the organization.
Technical proficiency:
Ensure that BI analysts have the tools, training, and understanding to perform their roles.
Shape and steer business intelligence initiatives to drive company success:
Gather Requirements and Act as Product Manager:
Gather and interpret business requirements, translating them into actionable technical solutions.
Fulfill the product manager role by bridging business needs with data and analytics capabilities.
Develop and Prioritize Analytics Roadmap:
Understand and identify business needs and strategically develop a roadmap.
Prioritize various solutions based on their business impact and feasibility.
Enhance Analytics Maturity:
Guide the organization through the evolution of its analytics capabilities - from basic reporting and analysis to advanced stages like predictive and prescriptive analytics.
Focus on continually improving the function's maturity.
Champion and Communicate Analytics Value:
Actively promote the importance and value of analytics within the organization.
Champion data-driven decision-making and drive the adoption of analytics by demonstrating its impact and benefits.
Ensure Project Success and Stakeholder Satisfaction:
Manage and oversee project execution to meet milestones.
Maintain stakeholder satisfaction through effective communication, timely delivery, and alignment with business objectives.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSEducational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
A Master's degree in a technical field is preferred.
Professional
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in business intelligence or data engineering, with substantial exposure to modern data stack environments.
Proven track record in leading and scaling BI functions, with experience in a management or leadership role.
Technical Expertise:
Deep expertise in the modern data stack, including hands-on experience with ETL tools like Fivetran and data transformation tools such as dbt (data build tool).
Advanced skills in Snowflake for efficient and scalable cloud data storage and management.
Proficiency in data visualization and analytics, particularly with Tableau, for creating impactful and insightful reports and dashboards.
Strong background in Python for data processing and automation tasks.
Familiarity with data governance practices and quality assurance protocols to ensure data integrity and security.
