The Industrial Electrical Construction Estimator plays a critical role in the construction project lifecycle by providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for electrical projects.
This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, construction methodologies, and cost analysis.
Additionally, proficiency in using specialized software like Accubid is essential for efficient estimation and project planning.
Responsibilities:
Project Analysis:
Review project plans, specifications, and other relevant documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the scope.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify project requirements and identify potential challenges.
Cost Estimation:
Utilize Accubid software and other tools to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for electrical construction projects.
Estimate quantities of materials, labor, and equipment required for each project component.
Analyze historical data, market trends, and industry benchmarks to ensure the accuracy of cost projections.
Bid Preparation:
Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including detailed breakdowns of costs and a clear scope of work.
Collaborate with the bid team to ensure that all bid documents are accurate and complete.
Submit bids within established deadlines, considering both cost competitiveness and profit margins.
Value Engineering:
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality or safety.
Suggest alternative materials, methods, or designs that align with project specifications and budget constraints.
Communication:
Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and availability information.
Present cost estimates to internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners in a clear and professional manner.
Database Management:
Maintain a well-organized database of historical cost data, vendor pricing, and industry trends for reference in future estimates.
Regularly update and refine the database to reflect the latest information.
Risk Assessment:
Identify potential risks and uncertainties that could impact project costs.
Work with project teams to develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
Continuous Learning:
Stay updated on advancements in electrical systems, construction techniques, and cost estimation methodologies.
Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to share insights and contribute to project planning.
Quality Control:
Review estimates and bid packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
Perform post-bid analysis to identify areas for improvement and refine future estimates.
Qualifications:
A strong background in electrical construction with a deep understanding of electrical systems and components.
Proficiency in using Accubid software for accurate and efficient cost estimation.
Proven experience in successfully estimating electrical construction projects of various sizes and complexities.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with internal and external teams.
Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate estimates.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, &
Experience:
Technical training and/or experience.
2-5 years Industrial electrical estimating, controls and/or engineering experience related to similar facility construction.
Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems essential.
