We also license Flash-IP solutions that are incorporated in a broad range of products.Job DescriptionMicrochip FTS is considering candidates for a self-motivated, team focused, Principal Engineer - Component to work with our team. This position will be primarily responsible for providing on-going technical support for our Clocks Products. The candidate will possess excellent hands-on, process engineering skills.The candidate must be able to multitask but also be able to focus to bring a project to a successful conclusion while also supporting other efforts.Responsibilities include:
Liaise with Electrical and Mechanical Design Teams to ensure robust and producible product designs.Determine requirements for electronic components and assist with initial component selection, sourcing, and qualification to ensure a ROHS compliant Bills of Material.Investigate alternate component technologies or supplies, review alternate part specifications, make alternate parts recommendations, and develop test and qualification plans for new components in existing designs.Act as technical interface between component/production suppliers and development engineers, determining new and alternate sources.Identify component technologies that are approaching end-of-life (EOL) and/or obsolescence and assist the Electrical and Mechanical Design Teams in identifying replacement component technologies to yield design solutions that enable products to perform to specifications and environmental requirements without impacting the product quality, functionality, etc.Develop guidelines/procedures on vendor selection.Evaluate supplier change notification and qualify changes, as needed.May maintain component data management system including qualification records/results/documentation.Job RequirementsRequires BS Electrical Engineering and 8.5 years of relevant experience in components selection; will consider relevant equivalent years of experience.Requires a complete understanding of ROHS compliance and exemptions.Must be adept at technical research and drafting of design reports.Must possess proven ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, engineering electrical schematics, product and process specifications, Statements of Work (SOWs).Strong ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and interface well with peers and management in a corporate setting.Requires knowledge and familiarity with electronic manufacturing processes.Experience with component selection in space applications with radiation requirements is desired.Must have familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, specific experience using Agile is desired.Must have experience using Microsoft Office Suite and strong Technical Writing skills.Familiar with task tracking tools such as and Atlassian's JIRA is preferred.Proficiency using Silicon Expert is desired.This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of US citizenship or current permanent residency.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Electrical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
